Doris Albertha Gayle was born in Burnt Savannah, Westmoreland, Jamaica on February 4, 1921. She is survived by six children, Hope Gayle-Smith, Pansy Gayle-Edwards, Oween Gayle-Thomson, Exford Gayle, Jr. Errol Gayle, Carol Gayle-Davidson.
Doris has 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 sisters Icelyn Reid in Jamaica and Ruby Anderson in Canada. Many of her loved ones have gone ahead of her including her husband Exford, son Paul, several sisters and brothers, mother and father. They are all leaving one by one….
Doris was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Sav-la-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica. She attended church here in the United States, but her greatest church love was home in Jamaica. Doris was a member of the church Choir. She sang a lovely Alto and was enjoyed and loved by many. She had many favorite hymns including: “Farther Alone We’ll Know All About It” and “The Love of God is Greater Far.”
Doris was the matriarch of the family. She had many talents which is now legacy to her grandchildren.
Mom, you are loved and will be greatly missed.
