Eslyn Stella Fray

Eslyn Stella Fray was born to Goslyn Barker and Rosamond (Forde) Barker on October 11, 1934, in La Digue, Grenada. She peacefully passed away at the age of 90, on October 13, 2024, surrounded by family. Having lost her mother at the tender age of ten, Eslyn learned the importance of resilience and developed a strong work ethic early in life. Eslyn excelled academically then worked as a store manager at Herrera’s Furniture Store and as an administrative assistant at St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School in Grenville, Grenada, where she became an honorary mother to many. Eslyn was a pillar of the community and was recognized for teaching crochet, sewing, and homemaking skills. Eslyn was an avid baker and highly sought after especially for her famous wedding cakes. Eslyn served as the President of the Women's Club and was an active member of the St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Grenville, Grenada. In 1995, Eslyn immigrated to Canada and then, in 1997, moved to Florida where she worked as a caretaker and companion for the elderly. Eslyn easily made friends everywhere she went and positively impacted the lives of many. In 2001, she married Rupert Fray. Eslyn had a passion for worship, long walks, yoga, Tai Chi, traveling, dancing, the beach, and creating many cherished memories with her family and friends. Eslyn was a member of the Episcopal Church of Atonement in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Eslyn had a profound affection for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She is the mother of Cirl (Hagne) Murray, Beryl (Lascelles) Nettleford, Adrian (Jacqueline) Laldee, Carl (Yooklan) Laldee, Hazel Laldee, and Allan Laldee. Eslyn is survived by four children, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren whom she lovingly referred to as "my little DNA." Eslyn was preceded in death by her parents, Goslyn and Rosamond Barker; her stepmother, Loretta Barker; her husband, Rupert Fray; her former husband, Leonard Laldee (div. 1994); and her children, Allan Laldee (son) and Beryl Nettleford (daughter). Eslyn will be deeply missed, however, we are grateful for the heartwarming memories that are forever etched into our hearts. “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose.
