Kethley Dubreus

Kethley Minouche Dubreus was born on Sunday October 25, 1981. She was born to Madeleine and Dessalon Dubreus and is the third child of the family. Kethley was a sweet child, full of energy, obedient and very well mannered. As a toddler, she was very ill and made so many visits to the hospital that she was know by the children's Hospital staff. At the age of 7, unfortunately she was diagnosed with Lupus, despite this diagnosis of such a savage disease, Kethley excelled in her academics. She made the honor roll almost every year and became an example of academic excellence for her family and friends. Kethley was very resourceful and had many dreams of becoming great. She had a mind for business and found many ways to make money, like selling candy out of her back pack in school, selling Nonie, Nopin Phone Cards, and Avon, to name a few. As a matter of fact, she purchased her first car with profits from selling candy in high school. She graduated in 2000 from Fort-Lauderdale High School. Originally the plan was to go to college and study to become a pediatrician. She loved kids so much but after being in the hospital for so long, she dreaded the thought of having to work there too. Soon she decided to go into accounting since she was good with numbers. Her family and friends came to her on a regular basis anyways, with mathematical and financial issues, so it made it an easy decision. Although it took her longer than usual to get her degree, because she was hospitalized so much, she never let anything get in her way. She never accepted anything less than a B and denied any special treatment given to her due to her medical condition. On January 10, 2004 she accepted her well deserved Associates in science degree in Accounting. Kethley Dubreus had a great sense of humor, determined, self motivated young lady and by far the strongest person we will ever know. She was never afraid to take chances and always kept God First in everything. She was loved by all she came in contact with and adopted many nicknames like: Shortly, Short Stuff, Lil'Mama, Chick Munch, KK and Bird. Kethley was a beautiful person both in and out. She moved the hearts of people she was a daughter to, a sister to, a cousin, aunt, God mother and friend to. Kethley was called by God on October 27, 2010, only two days after her 29th birthday. We thank the Lord for allowing us to spend those 29 years in her presence because when she was diagnosed at the age of 7, her doctors didn't expect her to live past 18 years old. We see now that she was truly an angel that God sent to us to inspire and remind us of just how blessed we are. She will forever be in our hearts and we pray that she will watch over us and continue to lead and inspire us, just as she did during her life time. She suffered a great deal of pain though out her life and even though she will be missed, we are filled with joy knowing that all of her pain is gone. Thank you Kethley for being a part of our lives and may you rest in peace forever.
