Georges Petit

Georges Edouard Petit was born on March 8, 1957, to the late Noel St. Jean, father, and Genita Petit, mother, in the seaside town of Port de Paix, Haiti. Georges was the 6th child born to the union. Georges would go on to be one of 9 siblings. His siblings were: Henry Max Petit (deceased), Remy St Jean, Fanfan St Jean, Michel St Jean (deceased), Micheline St Jean, Isni St Jean (deceased), Patrick St Jean, and Micanor St Jean. Those who knew him would tell you that he considered it such a blessing to be a part of this large and loving family. As he grew up in and around Port de Paix, Georges enjoyed cooking and working with his hands. This was the beginning of his interest in fixing things. This interest would lead him to make a career as a mechanic. George came to the United States in 1980. In 1981 he met Yolande Thelemaque. The two of them were married in 1982. Although the marriage did not last, their time together produced two wonderful children: Stephanie Colebrook and Kevin Petit. In 1998, Georges met Phadia Viel, affectionately known to all as Mamaille. Years later, Georges and Mamaille were married. Their union would produce two children: Eduoard Petit and Gaelle Petit. Georges dedicated his life to helping other people. His niece, Darline St. Jean, recalls how he met a woman while shopping at a big box store. The woman told him that she needed to move but could not afford to pay for a moving truck. Having access to a truck and being the kind man that he was, he offered to assist the lady in moving, free of charge. Georges Edouard Petit passed away on Tuesday June 21, 2022. In his passing he leaves a myriad of friends and family members to mourn him. Georges is survived by his wife Phadia Petit. His children Stephanie Colebrook, Kevin Petit, Eduoard Petit and Gaelle Petit. His sole grandchild, Maddison Colebrook. His brothers Patrick St Jean, Fanfan St Jean, Remy St jean and Micarno St Jean. His sister Michelins St Jean. Inlaws: Esther Petit, Immacula St Jean, Edyanne St Jean, Carol St Jean, Adone Petit-Compere, Norzila St. Jean. He is also survived by a tribe of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Georges will be missed. His legacy of loving and supporting those around him will live on long after the pain of losing him has subsided.
